Photo Exclusive: In Rehearsal with the Cast of ANG BAGONG HARANA

Manila, Philippines, October 16, 2012 -Directed by multi-award winning stage and television director Floy Quintos, Philippine Opera Company's "Ang BAGONG HARANA," a musical production featuring the best works of noted Filipino composers, returns to Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium for the third time starting this Friday, October 19 until Sunday, October 28.
Returning on stage as well is musical theater actor Noel Rayos, who last appeared as the leading man, Tenyong, in Tanghalang Pilipino's production of popular sarswela "Walang Sugat"; he will be joined by classical singers Karla Gutierrez, Aizel Prietos, Charley Magalit, Janine Santos, Marian Santiago, Lawrence Jatayna, Nazer Salcedo, Marvin Gayramon, Al Gatmaitan, and Arlynne Lupas Tecson, with the special participation of the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group.
Karla Gutierrez, the artistic and managing director of Philippine Opera Company, calls herself a "fool" for pushing Filipino culture; but according to her, "I will never grow tired of helping and advocating anything that is good about the Philippines, especially our music."
"We want to push further cultural tourism just like any other countries in Asia."
Aside from "Ang BAGONG HARANA's" innovative approach in its musical treatment, the show also enables classical singers to perform dance routines and deliver spiels.
This restaging of "Ang BAGONG HARANA" also introduces a new suite called "Kapaligiran," which reminds the audience on how to love and take care of Mother Earth.
