Manila, Philippines, May 31, 2013--Christian Bautista is set to play the role of Prince Charming opposite Karylle Tatlonghari's Cinderella in Resorts World Manila's production of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's classic musical "Cinderella," tentatively opening on Sunday, October 6 at Newport Performing Arts Theater.

According to Rem Zamora, assistant director of the production, "Bautista was handpicked from among many known singer-actors.

"Though he was already considered for the role, he was still asked to come in for a series of tests on how he would register onstage, and on how he would blend with the rest of the cast members."

Zamora tells BroadwayWorld.com, "Christian certainly looks the part, and has the voice for it."

Bautista was last seen onstage with Tatlonghari in Ballet Philippines' "Rama Hari." He also co-starred with the singer/actress in the TV musical "The Kitchen Musical" two years ago.

Prior to finishing fourth place on ABS-CBN's reality TV singing competition "Star In A Million" in 2003, Bautista had appeared in local stage productions such as in Trumpets' "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" and in Ryan Cayabyab and Fides Cuyugan-Asensio's "Spoliarium." He also appeared as Tony in Stages' production of Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim's "West Side Story" in 2008, which in the same year he won in the very first Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards-Philippines as Favorite Musical Artist.
