Ballet Philippines' NEO FILIPINO: ANTING runs for one weekend.

Manila, Philippines, August 10, 2012 - International television stars Christian Bautista and Karylle Tatlonghari, who recently appeared in "The Kitchen Musical," a Singaporean musical drama television series, and who first shared the musical theater stage via a local production of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's "West Side Story" several years ago, will lend their star power to Ballet Philippines' (BP) revival of ballet musical "Rama Hari" from Friday, November 30 to Sunday, December 9 at the CCP Main Theater.

"Rama Hari," which was originally performed by BP in the early '80s, starring Original Pilipino Music (OPM) luminaries Kuh Ledesma, Basil Valdez, and Leo Valdez, is a dance musical adaptation of the Indian epic "Ramayana," featuring choreography by BP founder Alice Reyes, libretto by National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera, music by Ryan Cayabyab, and set, costume designs by National Artist for Theater Design Salvador Bernal.

"Rama Hari" follows the adventures of Rama (Bautista), an Indian prince who moves heaven and earth to rescue his wife Sita (Tatlonghari), who was abducted by the evil king Ravana, which will be played by "Miss Saigon" alumnus Robert Seña.

Cayabyab will conduct the Manila Symphony Orchestra for this production.

Prior to the return of "Rama Hari," BP will also stage Filipino dramatist Tony Perez' "Neo-Filipino: Anting," which explores mystical amulets and talismans that come from Filipino folklore through dance, at the CCP Little Theater for one weekend only: Friday, September 14 to Sunday, September 16.

The dances, featuring music by Jed Balsamo, Jerrold Tarod, Teresa Barrozo, and Israel Rodriguez, will be interpreted by BP Artistic Director Paul Alexander Morales, BP Associate Artistic Director Christine Crame, BP alumnus and E-Dance Theatre Artistic Director Gerald Mercado, and Airdance Artistic Director Ava Villanueva-Ong.
